“They pour themselves one over the other like so much melted butter over parsnips,” writes D.H. Lawrence about Sicilians in Sea and Sardinia. “So terribly physically all over one another.”
“And that is how they are.”
I love melted butter over parsnips. How about you?

D.H. Lawrence lived in Sicily (Taormina) from 1920 to 1022. Here is a 1922 New York Times article about his life there.

Love this!
Great job with the photos.

Dana, grazie!
I like the article from the NYTimes and this book by Lawrence is one of the first I read about Sicily. You have inspired me to reread it. Very accurate comment about the melted butter.
I love Lawrence in Sea and Sardinia. He’s very funny, though I suppose by today’s standards he might be accused of stereotyping… What do you think?
What fantastic images you have captured! I have seen similar gestures while two guys ride their scooters side by side, deep in conversation, arms intertwined while in motion!
Ciao Karen–grazie. And that’s quite an image you paint!
