An anonymous, solitary hour.
Lured by the promise of coffee, I step through vacant emptiness.
But what is this?
A dozing cowboy?
What crazy hope lured him here?
I sip a strong coffee.
Was he just a dream from that other life of mine?
When I go that way again, he’s gone.

A cowboy with flip-flops? Must have been an hallucination. Or an imitation. Nevertheless, a surprising sight…probably anywhere other than in N.America. Now I, too, have that annoying song in my head and the guy isn’t even wearing rhinestones…must be the whole ersatz effect.
Must be Lucky Luke’s grandson, Jann..!
🙂
Jann, this is a fabulous capture! Love it! And now I can’t get the song, “Rhinestone Cowboy” out of my head, even though this cowboy seems to be wearing flip flops. A man after my own heart! 🙂
Hope you got that annoying song out of your head by now, Bella!
In the 50s when they discovered oil in Sicily there were a lot of Texans in Ragusa. I remember the fringed jackets, boots, and hats walking the Via Roma and sitting at the caffès. I remember one Texan mamma smoking a cigar to the amazement of the Ragusani.
Jo, ew! That must have seemed very wacky to siciliani in those days.
horse people visit Marina di Ragusa from the U.S.
Flipflops & Cowboy hat looks good from S.F.
Are there horses in Marina, Charmain? Is that why they visit?
Is this cowboy wearing flip flops???
Seems so, Lucy. Good observation!
Talk about a lonesome cowboy! He is the first one i have seen in Sicily.
He does look lonesome, and a little uncomfortable spending the night on that bench.
