I have to say with my sister Lucy , Our Papa has a magnificent Silian face!
Hi Nell–you and Lucy do have one darling Papa.
Sicilians certainly do have style, don’t they? So much personality comes through in your photos. Thanks so much for sharing.
Sicilians are natural-born actors–all the street’s a stage for them.
Fantastic photos, Jann!
Good to hear from you, May!
These people are smiling because you’re good at telling jokes in Italian?
I wish!
Fantastic photos! Absolutely the true essence of Sicilia! Great job!
Grazie, Diana. Glad a fellow photographer approves!
Jann, I love this post! How wonderful to see the true character of the Sicilian faces! My favorite is the last one. Can those guys in suits look any cooler! You’ve got to love a man who can pull off a lavender shirt and tie with this much panache! Viva Sicilia! 🙂
Ah, yes, Sicilian men are peacocks, full of panache. Let me second you on that: VIVA SICILIA!
I was sorry to see that you were hospitalized Jann and I hope you are now fully recovered. Auguri.
I loved looking at other Sicilian faces besides my own. Your photography is wonderful and it truly captures the local color. Sei proprio brava! Complimenti!
Ti ringrazio, Jo! Yup, I’m fully recovered thanks to my wonderful team of medici.
Jann,
It makes my day when there is a new post! I will take a picture of my “professeressa”, Gilma, as she is truly Sicilian and a bautiful woman both inside and out! Hope your health is back to normal!! Hope your weather is better than our 46 degrees F with tons of rain and wind here in Chicago! We don’t see any halter tops or sleeveless dresses at this point!
Jan Walcott
Oh, 46 degrees??? Brrr! Actually, spring here has been unseasonably chilly here–though by that I mean in the high 60s–with quite a bit of rain, too, but the warm days seem to have finally arrived. Thanks for your sweet comment, Jan.
Love your ability to capture the essence of the Sicilian personality in your photos. Also hope your back to good help and was reassured with your hospital experience in Italy.
PS
My husband Frank, our family picture taker loves your photos
Ciao Emalene and Frank!! When is your next trip to Italy?
wonderful and you even managed to include the purple shirt and tie.
Yes, that purple just won’t go away. I finally succumbed and bought (last year’s) lilac boots on sale.
Everyone looks so happy – must be because your beautiful face is what they’re looking at!
Aysha–flattery will get you everywhere! But it has nothing to do with me–Sicilians are just a smiley people.
Hey Jann,
Can I send you a picture? I have some great Sicilian photos of faces! 🙂
Hi Michelle, did you get my email about how to send me a photo? I’d love to post one of yours!
Fantastic “snap” of your varied Sicilian world. Thanks for the faces.
Thanks for commenting, Bonnie! Love your website too, by the way…
