Happy New Year Jann! I promise to telephone next in Ragusa. Do you get ‘up’ to the northside much, esp. Palermo? Thanks again for the wonderful photos! Tom
Tom, last time I was in Palermo was 2009. So it’s time for a refresher visit! I’m discovering that Sicily is a huge island and I’m not sure I’ll ever have time to visit all the places I want to see. Went around Etna recently–very quick trip, and would like to explore that area and the mountains south of Messina in much more detail.
Oh how I loved the doors in Italy! Thank you for reopening this particular door of perception. You do make me dream…
Yes, they’ve got that well-worn thing going on….
ooooo, the doors….the lovely doors w/ their peeling paint, history, and vivid colours.
–The last one w/ the glimmer of golden-honey light made my heart go pitter patter.
Xxx So Stunning you are Jann….
Ah, you’re sweet, Kim. xxxxxxx
There seems to be so many doors around; in reality the world is an inn with two doors only..While approaching the second (the last)door, let’s not regret what we have and haven’t done…! HAPPY NEW YEAR, JANN…It’s snowing heavily and beautifully in Ankara now…Such a beautiful day…!
Cemal, that snow in Ankara sounds magical! We’re enjoying a warm and sunny day here after some chilly windy ones.
Wonderful! Happy New Year to you!
P.S.: Ti rubo la frase…
Buon Anno, Pina! E baci.
Happy 2012 Jaun,
I am excited about this year. It will be a wonder. The doors series speaks to the unknown that is open to us all. We just have to take the first step inside to see what is there. Glorious colors and textures and most important AGE. You have been blessed with seeing the extraordinary in the simple moments in time.
Thank you for sharing.
Vicki
Vicki, so nice to make your virtual acquaintance this year. It’s great to be excited about a new year, as you are!
Jann!
So wonderful, again! Happiest of New Years!!
Mille grazie, Therese! Same to you & yours.
Dear Jann, Many thanks for all the ways your photos have inspired, titillated and delighted me this past year! Yes! to following our bliss in 2012, with bold love-filled hearts.
Thanks Aysha! Yes, let our hearts be “bold and love-filled.” Well put. xxxxxx

Hi Diana @ Roccalumera- I hope you’re enjoying the holidays up there. (I just looked you up on the map–you’re in such a wonderful part of Sicily!!!)
Felice anno nuovo Jann! Spero che ci sentiamo spesso nel 2012! Un abbraccio! Melissa
Altretanto, Melissa. Baci, jann
Buon Anno! May your new year be filled with blessings, good health and may you continue to send us ( your adoring public ) all the sights of that wonderful island.
Ciao Lola, such a sweet comment. Grazie mille!
Jann, bellisima, what a wonderful set of photos! So symbolical and representative of your wishes. I love it. These type of doors is what I picture when I dream of old houses in Italy. I love the color and texture! I hope the New Year brings you beautiful times, plenty of joy, and loads of laughter! Buon Anno! Auguri!
Same to you, cara Bella. xxxxxxx
Love your blog. Happy New Year. Hoping to get back to Sicily in 2012.

I love the quote Jann! A very Happy New Year to you and your family. All the best to everyone for 2012, I wonder what awaits us all as we go through those doors…
Thanks for your comment Cathy. Happy 2012!
I would like to follow the gentleman in the first photo to see what’s on the other side of that door. May the new year open wonderfully unexpected doors for you.
And for you, Rosann. xxxxxxx Baci
….And I hope many doors open for you Jann.
Marisa
Thank you Marisa. Same wishes back to you!
Bellisima Jann……Buon Anno! Auguri We hope you have a wonderful 2012 and many sunny days here in Sicily. To many more lunches with friends in warm sunny breezes by the sea, soft donkey noses, and dishes of Budino di Latte di Asina! All the Best!
I will drink to all of the above, Diana. xxxxxx
I have no idea why, but I just love the Mediterranean doors… Wonderful pictures! Auguri e buon anno da Lazio 🙂
Grazie, e a te, “Foreigner”!
Thanks, Jann, for the gorgeous photos, for the best wishes, for your inspiration throughout 2011, and for Joseph Campbell’s quote. (I’m thinking it would be a great book title: Where There Were Only Walls’) And best wishes to all for a beautiful 2012.
Grazie, Susan. Happy new year!
