They are the charmingest of men, with a hint of mischief.
Not that I have a wandering eye or anything.
Sicilian men favor cigarettes, cool sunglasses, and brilliantine. Many accessorize with gold and maybe a crucifix, or a corno–horn amulet–to ward off the evil eye.
When my sister Linda visited Sicily for the first time, she took a look around and her jaw dropped. “We should be Hollywood scouts! Take these pretty boys to Tinseltown!”
“Linda,” my Sicilian friend–aΒ divorcΓ©e–replied, “Are you insane??”
Dear Reader, I’ll let you be the judge.

You asked for this, girls. Hope you enjoyed it! For more, see Beauty Boys of the PoliziaΒ or Sicilians in Speedos.
i am from Catania. very nice
Hi Sal,
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and commenting. Give my love to Catania!
Jann,
We don’t see many of those views in Central Florida. My Mom (93) says to tell you thanks. She says , “It is about time we girls get to look at something pretty”. Bella
Vicki
π Vicki, so glad your mom enjoyed this. Give her a kiss for me. Ciao ciao.
Jann, is that a priest in the third shot? OMG, if it is, what a waste! Such a beautiful man! And there I’ve gone and had impure thoughts! hee hee! I think it’s time for confession. I say, more posts like this one, please! π
Bella, we don’t think he’s a priest but rather a member of an order like the Templar Knights…. So not to worry about those thoughts of yours!
Never seen so many comments…men capture our attention a lot…my favourite is first boy on the scooter…
Well, if only the boy on the scooter knew how popular he’s become!
It’s the confidence. Makes them carry themselves so naturally that they draw me in. Love it.
And where does that confidence come from? From doting mama?
I rated them o to 10.
Whether blonde or dark, young or old, male or female I am convinced that the Sicilians are the most beautiful of all Italians. My favorite combination is black hair with that shade of green eyes that you see only there.
Yay for Sicilians! A good-looking tribe. And really nice, too.
Dennis, you’re hysterical. So many ones and zeros!
Actually, Trapani is the most Arab/African part of Sicily.
Please, don’t do that ,Jann….! We are going to be affected by the fumes of jealousy as Turkish boys…..!
π Well, as you know, Cemal, Turkish boys are just as handsome!
You missed the tall blonde blue eyed Sicilians of Norman descent. One of the most handsome Sicilians I ever met was just like this. Elegant.
Not that I prefer the blondes but the contrast is interesting.
Catherine, you’re right about these blondies. I don’t see too many, but when I do, I think they’re tourists–and probably they’re not all. But since I grew up in a Dutch-American community where everyone was tall and blonde, that type doesn’t seem to attract my camera!
I have seen the ‘normans’ in Palermo which is probably where they originated.
My parents are both first generation Sicilian-Americans. My Dad, who is now gray haired, was a blonde and has the bluest of eyes and fair skinned. His father came from the town of Partanna in the Trapani province which was settled by Normans. I think Palermo has more Arabic and Spanish influence, not Norman.
The Normans landed first in Messina and then went to Palermo. Of course, that was a few centuries ago.
Yes, Charlie, and sometimes in Sicily that Norman gene just pops out unexpectedly so that a dark couple will have a blond, blue-eyed child.

Ah, Dennis. You’re in your super-cryptic mode. Una spiegazione, per favore. π
I’ll take any one of them!
How cute you are, Anastasia, to be so un-picky!
—May I order the first hunk on the bike w/ a side order of Mr. Hollywood on the bottom?
WHEW ))))) Xx I Likey. I likey.
Your order will be up soon, Kim. Enjoy!
I agree with Susan, we need a post like this at
at least once a week.
π I’d be running full-time after men, in that case.
And the problem with this is…???? Seriously Jann, you OWE this to us, your fan-base…we live for these postings π Pretty boys on bikes,oh my……
π Aw, Cathy, you’re so sweet.
is the handsome, suited man walking in Siracusa a Priest? He looks to be carrying a religious robe…
Charlie, I took his picture on Dec 13 in Siracusa, which is the annual feast day for the city (honoring Santa Lucia). So a lot was going on in the city that day–religious parades and what not. My husband, who grew up Catholic, tells me that priests don’t wear ties–they wear clerical collars in formal situations, so this guy doesn’t appear to be a priest. However, those are priestly vestments on his arm. Is the man perhaps delivering the vestments to a priest?
There are a lot of religious orders over there – similar to Knights of Columbus, Knights Templar, etc. He could be going to one of the ceremonies for one of those orders. The men dress up in robes and (sometimes) cone-shaped hats. In fact, the cross on the robe he is carrying looks similar to the Knights Templar cross. Very cool. I can’t remember the name of that darn cross. It’s a cross with another smaller cross between each corner. I’ll have to look it up….
Callie–thanks so much for this clarification!! That makes good sense.
Just looked up Knights Templar on wikipedia:
Officially endorsed by the Catholic Church around 1129, the Order became a favored charity throughout Christendom, and grew rapidly in membership and power. Templar knights, in their distinctive white mantles with a red cross, were among the most skilled fighting units of the Crusades.[5] Non-combatant members of the Order managed a large economic infrastructure throughout Christendom, innovating financial techniques that were an early form of banking,[6][7] and building fortifications across Europe and the Holy Land.
I found the cross – it’s a “Jerusalem” or “Crusaders” cross. And the Crusaders were part of Knights Templar.
Thanks for solving this mystery, Callie!
Whatever you decide ladies, handle with care is my advice… Jann, I love this post. The way Italian men dress and present themselves compared with their Australian counterparts is a pet rant of mine! I love the range of age groups too. I definitely admire the Italian man for the way he tends to get better with age. And they never stop trying!!!
Hmmm, Janine. Sounds like good advice. And I like your point that Italian men never stop trying. Yes, look at Berlusconi!
“handle with care” very good advice. they do have something I cannot put my finger on -I think it is what Kramer called “The Lure of the Animal”.
The nice way of dressing and vast amount of mirror time can become tiresome-my husband spends hours getting ready and I know when he is because the breeze of heavy cologne wafts thru the house. I did win on one count- I do not want my man wearing more jewelery than me!
π Very funny, Linda, and an interesting behind-the-scenes peek into why Italian men look so good –“hours getting ready”? American men–are you listening? (I think the US norm is more like 5 minutes.) And my husband will not touch cologne or a jewelry, though I have gotten him into Italian clothes! And he now wears a man bag!!!! What’s next, I wonder.
Where do I sign up????? The smoking would have to go, though.
Ah, the sign-up sheet. Guess I’ll put that in the next post, Sandee.
wow, that was fun! π
Thanks, Cat!
Eye candy !!
Glad you enjoyed, Nancy.
A comment from those who sit on “the other side of the church”…hmmm, “mama mia” Mr. Hollywood T-Shirt is molto bello!
Glad you like, Charlie. Yes, Mr. Hollywood is cute and seems to know it.
those types usually do know it! ha ha
Mio dio!! Please take me with you on one of these shoots!! π
Anytime! We will leave Kim and John at the wine bar.
Definitely trouble. Macho men and mama’s boys all in one bundle. Best to look and not touch!
Sounds like you’re experienced in this arena, louciao?
Enough for everyone, it looks like. Bring it on, Jann, we could use a post like this at least once a week.
