When I throw open the shutters in the morning, the cupola is there, like a gift.
The color of sweet latte.
It is moody, changeable, capriciosa.

Jann, these shots simply took my breath away! My goodness, you’re talented, my friend! Ah, to glance at this lovely structure every day. I sigh at the thought! And it seems like the artist in the photo is doing a lovely rendition of the cupola! 🙂
Bella, no talent at all involved in these shots–I just pointed and shot (but thanks, anyway!).
For the last 11 years I have done the same thing, taking photos of my back deck as the seasons change on the Branford river. Thanks for posting.
Hi Greg–thanks for your comment and welcome to the blog! You must have quite a collection after 11 years! Now I’m off to check out your blog…
Jann,
As I viewed the magnificent dome, I wondered just how long it took to make. The workers the artists and the designers had a vision of how it would look. I bet they never even thought how many people over time would view the completion of their hard work. Thank you for sharing their and now the World’s Masterpiece.
Vicki
Ciao Vicki!
The original cathedral in Ibla collapsed in the earthquake of 1693, and the new baroque duomo went up between 1744-1775. The neoclassical dome (cupola) was put on later (1820), and was modeled on the dome of the Pantheon in Paris. xxxxx
The perfect blend of nature and creativity. Endless inspiration. A gift indeed Jann. And I just know already you’d never take it for granted…. Viva la Sicilia!
Nope–I’ll never take it for granted!!! xxxxxxx
bellissima idea, Jann!
it’s one of my favourite images of Ibla……Peaccato that sometimes my tourists are a little bit old and I can’t let them do the stairs to have such a wonderful view…
magari I suggest to have a look to your wonderful pictures…
Ciaoooooo
I hope to meet you sometimes…
Thanks, Lucia–yes, it’s quite a hike up those steps (100+). Living in Sicily you don’t need to go to the gym for the Stairmaster…. Likewise, I hope our paths cross sometime soon!
You are lucky Jann to have such magnificent scenery, and Ragusa is lucky to have YOU,such a graceful person….!
Ah, Cemal–do I deserve a friend as sweet as you?
Jann, Stunning. I love the click through so it shows like a movie… very effective for the glorious changing light. As always, thanks for helping me “see” different.
Aysha–sending love to you in lovely Mexico!
Wow! What a view. How lovely.
Mille grazie!
So gorgeous — thanks, Jann, for sharing!
Debbie–thank YOU for dropping by.
Oh yes how very special and I KNOW it’s special every time you look out the window!!!!!!’
🙂
Oooo, Jann,
what a lush, delectable gift.
And you know what is the coolest thing?
That you observe it as such.
Luv UUuuuuuuuuuuuuu for being so beautifully YOU. X
Kim–you are a darling. And may I thank you back for being so gorgeously YOU??? xxxxxxx
Che bella. Abosolutely dreamy and seductive!
Ciao Joanne–thanks for dropping by!
It must make washing the dishes a treat.
I sort of have to look over my shoulder, though, while doing the dishes, since the sink faces the other way. But at the table I can look at it. So of course I’ve made the kitchen table my all-day desk.
Fabulous. One of your best photo series, to my thinking. Beauty is so much in the eye of the beholder and the way you capture “your” Sicily, it is clear how much you love it. Thanks.
Ti ringrazio, Rosann! xxxxx
Bella cupola che splende nella luce del sole, che splende nella luce della luna e le stelle, che splende ancora nel mio cuore, che fa parte delle mie memorie. Grazie Jann.
Grazie a te, Josephine, per questa poesia.
Simply stunning-thank you.
grazie a te, Janie.
you are blessed
So much to be thankful for!
Oh, you must feel so blessed every time you look out your window. Wonderful how you’ve caught so many moods and gorgeous hues of the scene.
My camera drawer is right next to the window. My neighbors think I’m a little nuts–always out on the balcony taking pix….
Jann, those are beautiful images! It’s like having a movie theater out your kitchen window!
🙂 Yup–no need for a TV here! When I need to veg out and stare at something, I stare out the window.
What a beautiful view to welcome every morning. The sky is never the same, always changing.
Hi Kym–yes, mornings are special. Of course, along with the pretty view come BONGING bells from the belfry–at 7am they go berserk!!! WAKE UP WAKE UP!
Bella, come al solito!
Grazie, Charlie.
