You should have sat down on one to see if anyone else would join you. Don’t
forget your knitting! You could have made up any story of why you were there
waiting on the bus, waiting for the confessional to be cleaned, waiting for
your fiancΓ©. What a chance to develop a story line.
π Vicki, I think you’d have lots of fun in Sicily, especially if you bring your knitting!
wow google is amazing. I first heard Seville 50 years ago in Hollywood, Calif.
The chairs are all facing in different directions; I think it’s sign of cleaning out the old for the soon to be another season, from the south-summer???
Hi Dolores. Welcome to this blog! I love your comment–so interesting! Thank you.
Ciao Jann,
I think the chairs outside represent an invitation to enter and be seated, or a welcome to enjoy a Mass in an old church.
Ciao John, another very interesting idea! Thanks for this. I think my next step will be to carry the photo around with me and ask Sicilians how they interpret it and maybe I’ll get to the bottom of this “mystery.” π
laugh at this one “Seville der dago a’ toussin busses inaro nojo dems trux
summit cousin summit dux”
If you need I will send you the translation.
π The Great God Google helped me with this translation, Dennis. (As usual, you’re full of beans!)
I don’t know if it’s me or my computer but I only
see two chairs in the picture. His and Hers???
Well, that’s funny, Anasthasia. An even greater mystery! Where did the 3rd chair go?
Or have they been freshly painted????…..I love the composition and the colours so much Jann! Such a beautiful image! xx
Freshly painted and just waiting for 3 turisti to sit down for a rest…
Waiting for priests to come out and soak up some sun! Love your pix!!
π THey’d get pretty hot pretty fast in those black cassocks in the Sicilian sun !!! π
Intriguing!
Father. Son. Holy Ghost.
Peter. Paul. Mary.
Pavarotti. Domingo. Carreras.
Xxx LOVE from Me to YOUUuu. Xxxxxx
Ah, waiting for the 3 great tenors to arrive. Wouldn’t that be lovely. I miss Pavarotti!! xxxxx LOVE back 2 U, Kim. xxxxx
Love this, Jann! A holy trinity of chairs.
π
The father, the sun and the holy ghost! Amen!
Amen, Aida!
At least they are three. I only found this one lonely chair: http://andreasmoser.wordpress.com/2013/02/20/lonely-chair/
Ciao Andreas–thank you for this link! Your photo of the lone (summer) chair on the dock in the snow is STUNNING!!!! Just beautiful. (I hope to visit Lithuania one day…)
a wonderful mystery….reminds me of a child’s game x
Why is it, in Sicily, that I often feel I’m in a mysterious child’s game??? xxxx
Patrem et Filium et Spiritum Sanctum.
Risum fecit mihi, Dennis!
Looks almost like somebody was airing out mattresses and forget to take in the chairs, Jann — funny! They’re a bit too far apart for conversation, aren’t they?!
π A little far for conversation.
Someone finally left the church door open; the chairs escaped, and now they don’t know which way to go.
So they are three and free.
π Free at last from the dark cold church.
